Whilst the leaves that go into our teas are plucked from the same bush as many other brands’, we use only the first and second flush of the tea-growing season. In their newest growth, the leaves and buds are at the finest quality possible, producing the very best teas imaginable. We do not buy or use any end of season teas, ever.

The true risk to the finished leaf comes from its three enemies: heat, humidity and contamination. In transit from the production fields to the packaging centre, the inherent character of tea can easily be contaminated. Which is why here at Newby, we reduce transit time due to global pollution, and invest in the most unique preservation facility money can buy. From the moment the leaves are processed into the tea you know and love, our blends are nurtured the Newby way.

Tea is a delicate product, easily contaminated by light, humidity and even lingering smells. As such, a large part of our unique preservation technique is defending Newby Teas from such pollution: assuring each and every cup you brew is as fresh as when it was first made. Often the finer things in life are entirely dependent on their ingredients, but tea’s quality comes from its processing. Two cups made from the same leaf can be absolute opposites if their conservation differs.
