A very happy New Year from Newby Teas. Now that 2017 has begun, we're looking forward to supporting and spreading the word about more of the things that we care about. For our first act of the year, we've decided to share some tips about Dry January, how we're supporting people taking part in the campaign and how you can get involved.

What is Dry January?

Dry January is a UK campaign founded by Alcohol Concern. The idea behind it is to change the way people think about and consume alcohol and to spread important messages about health and wellbeing. People take part in Dry January for a number of reasons, either to rid themselves of horrible hangovers, loose weight, improve general health, raise money for charity by being sponsored to go sober, and save money for themselves. The idea is to give up and abstain from alcohol for a full 31 days, until January is over. It's often said that if someone were to invent a health product that successfully did all of those things, they'd be world famous. Tea is not far from being that cure-all product so we're using our fine blends and expert knowledge to support those taking part in the campaign, lending a little help and advice, as well as delicious alternatives to alcohol all month long. We'll also be providing tips on how to detox safely and how to take good care of yourself during the rather depressing month of January, as well as how to take your health to new levels in the new year. We've called upon everyone from professional nutritionists to our very own tea experts to give you the low-down and all the information you'll need.

How can I take part in Dry January?

Taking part in the campaign is easy. Simply visit Alcohol Concern and make use of all the free resourced to get you started. Open up a blank calendar, wheel the bar trolley out of sight and cross off each healthy booze-free day. Make sure you have enough of your favourite alcohol alternatives to keep you going throughout the month, and check back here on our blog and on Twitter and Facebook for tips, recipes, things to know and things to do to make your Dry January a success.
