As the Official Tea Partner of the Art and Antiques Fair, Olympia, Newby Teas can be found throughout this week at the event’s Mosimann’s Summer Bistro & Bar, which is serving up delicious cream teas and Afternoon Tea as part of its (very tempting) menu. We headed down to the Fair’s opening day to check out what you can experience, whether you go for the art, the antiques or the great food and drink… This year’s Art and Antiques Fair is the 44th of its kind, and boasts more than 50,000 pieces exhibited by 160 specialist dealers. The variety is pretty phenomenal – we spotted scientific and musical instruments, jewellery, carpets, books, clocks… in fact, whatever your area of interest, chances are it will be catered for. 20160628_160736 20160628_161931 20160628_162635 20160628_162925 20160628_163448 20160628_163204 There are also some not-for-sale but very intriguing exhibition pieces too. This one takes pride of place, and represents the Brothers Grimm fairytale of the Town Musicians of Bremen. 01_20160628_160536 You will also find a number of contemporary art dealers at Olympia, with a huge number of inventive creations which demonstrate it doesn’t have to be old to be on display here. Contrasting styles can be found around every corner… 01_20160628_163310 01_20160628_160229 20160628_161855 Over in Mosimann’s, plenty of visitors are taking a break while tucking into dishes like Leek and Gruyére Tart, Risotto al Funghi and Linguine with Lobster, Prawns and Asparagus. The bistro is located on the upper level, so you can survey the scene below as you dine, working out what you may want to check out next. We were just in time to enjoy the Antiques Fair Afternoon Tea, consisting of dainty finger sandwiches (smoked salmon was our favourite), a warm scone with clotted cream and jam, fresh strawberries and cream, fruit cake and, of course, a cup of Newby from our Silken Pyramids range – also available by the pot for those shorter stops as you work your way around the fair! Be sure to consult the Newby menu on your table to find out more about the blends on offer.20160628_160126 20160628_151519_2 20160628_151853 Another new arrival at this year’s event is SOFA, an exhibition of three-dimensional art and design which originated in Chicago. After 22 years in the US, SOFA has come to London for the first time, and is a showcase for innovative one-of-a-kind pieces ranging from painting and sculpture to textiles and glassware. 01_20160628_162038 Our afternoon at the Art and Antiques Fair, Olympia delivered plenty of surprises. Why not stop by this week and see what you can find? There’s no need to book ahead – tickets are available on the door.
