Terroir & Production

This fine black tea originates from Ilam, Nepal, widely regarded as the country’s premier tea-growing region and often referred to as the tea capital of Nepal. The gardens lie at elevations between 900 and over 2,100 metres, where a high-altitude microclimate of mist, cool air and fertile soils shapes complex, aromatic teas. Bordering Darjeeling, Ilam shares similar soil conditions. The tea is handpicked in spring, selecting two leaves and a bud, and processed using orthodox methods. The finished tea is packed at Newby’s carbon neutral factory to preserve freshness and quality.
