About Upper Assam Silken Pyramids

Hailing from the remote Assam region of north east India, Newby’s Silken Pyramids contain whole leaf second-flush Assam tea. The product of high temperatures and lush monsoons, this luxury blend has a strong, malty and hugely popular taste with a hint of honey. Packed into multi-layer sachets for freshness, every part of this range celebrates antique tea ware design with a range of stunning images inspired by Newby’s Chitra Collection.

Terroir & Production

The tea gardens of Upper Assam lie along the banks of the Brahmaputra River, nourished by mineral-rich alluvial soil and abundant monsoon rain. The tropical climate, combined with long daylight hours and high humidity, allows the Camellia sinensis var. assamica plant to flourish. The slow, even growth of the leaves during the warm season develops the tea’s full-bodied richness and characteristic amber hue.
